The latest developer broadcast and subsequent March 18 update have introduced pivotal changes to the AION 2 ecosystem. From a complete UI overhaul to a shift in how character progression is measured, here is the technical breakdown of the new patch.
1. Advanced HUD Editor & UI Flexibility
For the PC enthusiast, the interface is no longer a static constraint. The new HUD Editor introduces a grid-based system allowing for:
- Total Positional Freedom: Move, resize, or hide almost any UI element.
- Batch Processing: Group multiple elements to move them simultaneously, preserving your custom layout’s symmetry.
- Granular Scaling: Individual control over grid spacing and chat font sizes to optimize screen real estate during high-intensity raids.
2. Official “Combat Power” (CP) Integration
To combat the reliance on inaccurate third-party data, NC has launched an official Combat Power metric.
- The Algorithm: Unlike raw Item Level, CP calculates your true “threat level” by weighing base stats, gear bonuses, passive skills, and even cosmetic buffs.
- PvE Weighting: The system specifically prioritizes stats that impact dungeon performance.
- Transparency: You can now toggle between Item Level and CP in the character sheet to get a clearer picture of your build’s efficiency.
3. Sanctuary Scaling & “Erosion” Buffs
The Corroded Decontamination Facility (Erosion 2) proved too steep for the average pug. The following adjustments are now live:
- Entry Threshold: Lowered from 3,700 to 3,500 Item Level. This is a strategic move to double the pool of available Clerics and Healers for endgame content.
- Weekly Farm: Entrance attempts have been reverted from 2 to 4 per week (with 2 reward claims), acknowledging that the previous “grind reduction” was premature for the current progression curve.
- Eroded Specter’s Bracelet: To ensure these remain “Best in Slot,” they now feature a +2.5% damage amplification per piece (+5% for the pair).
4. Tactical Gameplay: Presets & Stigmas
- Hybrid Presets: The new SET1/2/3 system is no longer a “all or nothing” swap. You can now mix and match—running Gear Slot 1 with Arcana Slot 3 and Skill Slot 2 seamlessly.
- Stigma Expansion: Coming March 25, the Stigma cap increases to 5 slots. Expect a meta shift as every class receives a brand-new Stigma and several “dead” skills are overhauled for situational utility.
5. Economy & Social Filtering
- Anti-Inflation Measures: The introduction of Tied Kina (bound currency) aims to slash market inflation by roughly 20%. This currency is earned through pure gameplay and cannot be traded.
- Racial Matchmaking: The Dungeon Waiting Room now features a “Same Race Only” filter. This helps streamline groups for race-specific objectives or lore-consistent runs.
- Damage Meter: Finally, an official in-game DPS meter is confirmed for late March to help players fine-tune their rotations.
