NCSOFT announced on December 2 that AION 2, the studio’s flagship next-generation MMORPG, has been officially crowned the 2025 “Game of G-STAR”—an award presented by the Korea Game Media Association and the Korea Game Journalists Club.
The prestigious Game of G-STAR award highlights titles that excel in game quality, innovation, artistic direction, and overall impact among all titles showcased at the G-STAR event. Winners are selected through votes cast by professional game reporters from the Korea Game Journalists Club.
This year’s ceremony took place on December 1 at the NCSOFT R&D Center in Pangyo, where AION 2 was recognized as the standout MMORPG of the year.
AION 2’s Explosive Launch in Korea and Taiwan
AION 2 officially launched on November 19 in both Korea and Taiwan, and its early performance has been remarkable. The game achieved:
- 1.5 million daily active users (DAU) within just two days
- Over 2.53 million characters created in its first week
These numbers highlight the massive anticipation surrounding the title and its strong reception across both regions.
Developers Commit to Ongoing Improvements
Kim Nam-Joon, Executive Producer of AION 2, expressed gratitude for the award, stating:
“We were able to receive this honor thanks to the incredible interest and support from our players. We will continue improving AION 2 by actively listening to community feedback.”
Industry Leaders Expect Even More Growth
Lee Taek-Soo, President of the Korea Game Media Association, commented on AION 2’s strong start:
